Bags of fun!

Australian accessory label Chip Chop  is the cutest thing since... well... it's just cute OK! Kitsch phrases are emblazoned across sturdy shoppers, and souvenier motifs crop up in the range of jewellery and tee shirts, that are hard to resist.

This super sweet label is also super clever, with an online store that ships worldwide, Chip Chop have already had international customers stop by and buy up! Tese bags are on the cusp of cult status, so add the Chip Chop website to your bookmarks, and add a few pieces to your Christmas wish list too.

What's hot: The maxi dress

Avakian maxi dress The maxi is here to stay! Lasting right through summer, designers at RAFW showed us how we'll be bringing maxi back once again in Autumn 2008. Daniel Avakian's extreme maxi, with tiered layers trimmed in hotpink, redefined the transeasonal wardrobe. At the other end of the spectrum, Avakian's slinky batwing maxi, in a metallic stretch tube style, left little to the imagination; probably best left to the experts. Another great maxi dress at Gina Kim  was both easy to wear and fabulously detailed, making it an instant  must-have.

What's hot: Trend

Autumn 2008 promises a trend towards a pristine, severely polished, ladylikelook. Alex Perry  models stormed the runway in amazingly sexy, high maintenance looks with impossibly high heels to match. While hair was slicked into a glossy pony tail, the rest of the Alex Perry look for autumn 2008 was vamped up to the max. Perry's pencil skirts that looked like they altered breathing patterns, and heavily corseted bodices were replicated at Cable, Melbourne  and Daniel Avakian  whose hourglass silhouettes created drama of the most lady like variety. Click on the links to watch the full RAFW parades.

What's hot: Colour

Wayne Cooper- Ultra Violet
Although scarce, colour for Autumn 2008 as seen at the Transeasonal Collections, was vibrant and rich.Ultra Violet, the name of Wayne Cooper's collection, became the catchcry of the season with hues from plum to mauve appearing at most of the Women's collections; deep and dramatic at Alex Perry, retro at Wayne Cooper and dark and brooding at Yekaterina Peker.

     frisoni finetti

For men, the standout shade was definitely red. Intense and pure, red featured in bold contrast to an otherwise bland palette of white, black and gradients of both. Across the board monochrome will be the season favourite, with the use of texture, especially metallic, shiny and patent fabrications, taking precedence over colour combination. Black on black, classic and timeless, was used to dramatic effect at Alex Perry, Daniel Avakian and Bowie.

What's hot: Accessories

  accessories for 08

Chunky, fierce and totally fabulous are the accessories for the transeason, 2008, as seen at RAFW. Bowie  and Daniel Avakian  used variations on these fantastic booties, that can be worn with hosiery, or a bare leg for maximum statement.

Solid heels will continue through this summer and well into winter next year, so invest now to get plenty of wear out of the look!

Designers for Target

The new designers for target  should put a smile on the face of every fashionista whose bank account is bare after a trip to NY fashion week. Gail Sorronda and Yeojin Bae are the next two fashion hotties to release a range through Target. All the cutesy, quirky, doll like characteristics of Gail Sorronda  are replicated for an affordable price, and Yeojin Bae'sclassic, sexy chic is made available through a range of dresses and accesories to complement. The Josh Goot range may have disappointed, but with two hot ranges from two cult designers to choose from this time, there is no way you'll leave Target with a frown.

this tee won't save a life

Slogan tees are back with a vengeance, intruding into your line of vision and sending you blind. Everyone hates them, just look at our 'street' section for proof- and yet somehow they're everywhere!  Here's who we're blaming for resurrecting this crime against fashion and bastardising the crusades of British fashion icon Katharine Hamnett: HOUSE OF HOLLAND

Slogan tees were the icon of the 80's, designed by Katharine Hamnett  , who was using fashion as a vessel for mass communication and social change. She designed slogan tees, including the iconic "CHOOSE LIFE",  in the hope they would be copied and reproduced, and her message would be spread.

Today Katharine wishes that slogan tee statements were "a little less frivolous." Our guess is, she hates HOUSE OF HOLLAND for bringing the purposeless slogan the back to life, as much as we do.

Red carpet offence

what was she thinking? The Brownlow red carpet is the Bermuda triangle of style and decorum. Every year a more hideous fashion blunder waits in the wings. This year there was enough satin, thigh high side splits, fabric covered shoes and ringlets in the hair to kit out a regular year 10 formal.

We don't expect great fashion moments from footballers (except David Beckham) so why should their partners be any different? We're expecting too much from girls who can't deliver, and the outcome is laughable at best. Check out this year's effort here, then compare against the compliation of the past years disasters here  and the results are no less offensive. It's not a good sign when Sonia Kruger and Sandra Sulley tie for the evening's best dressed guest.

Vice

Vice Magazine Book

The lovable dudes at Vice magazine  have published the ultimate guide to street style, with a do's and don'ts book of so-true, took-the-words-out-of-my-mouth type fashion critiques. It's harsh and sarcastic and vulgar in parts but it is the most honest and hilariously articulate piece of short prose you'll ever read! The book is called 'Vice do's and don'ts:  10 years of Vice magazine's street fashion crtitiques' and it's worth every penny they charge you at the store. That's the catch! It means these rude boys of fashion are actually getting rich at the expense of all the helpless victims of fashion whose ridiculous and offensive ensembles were secretly snapped! It hardly seems fair.
